So let’s say that you’ve decided that you’d like to take advantage of such an easy marketing method.  How do you go about getting started?  It’s rather simple.

The best thing that you could do is find yourself a respectable email service provider (ESP), as there is more to sending out mass emails than you think.  If you try to tackle this project yourself and you have a good many contacts, you could end up with your emails getting shoved into your recipient’s spam folders or your Internet service providers could even shut your email down. My advice is to let the professionals do it for you and save you a lot of headaches and time.

Email service providers are affordable and many allow you to begin with a free trial.  Be sure to do your homework and ask plenty of questions before you choose your provider.  Ask them what kind of support they provide and what exactly the monthly price covers.  Some of the more popular email support providers are Aweber, Elite Email Marketing, Constant Contact, iContact, Mail Chimp, and SilverPro.

Once you’ve begun your journey with email marketing, but sure that your content is full of relevant information and engaging.  You want your readers to not only be interested in one email, but look forward to the next ones as well.  Be sure to include a link to your website and know your objectives.  Keep your emails short and simple and don’t be afraid to use your creative side.

Your email service provider should give you access to key statistics such as how many people have opened up the email, how many emails were forwarded, how many people unsubscribed, and so on.  You will want to track your results every month and make adjustments as necessary.

Lastly, be patient.  Email marketing can increase productivity over time but remember that it takes time. Be determined to persevere.
